P5 Readathon 2022
The Primary 5 children participated in a Readathon on Monday 11th April 2022. The children were encouraged to read and/or listen to as many of the books listed below as they could and then competed in a quiz based on these books.
The P5 Readathon books included:
· Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
· Floods by Sally Prue
· Ancient Egypt by Fiona Macdonald
· The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch
· The Iron Man by Ted Hughes
· The Twits by Roald Dahl
· The Dancing Bear by Michael Morpurgo
· Cup Winners by Martin Waddell
· The Hodgeheg by Dick King-Smith
· The Champion Storyteller Roald Dahl by Andrea Shavick
The winning teams were: Beth Casey, Odhran McConville, Harry Coulter, Grace Bradley, Nicol Granat, Eimear Drummond, Shay McLoughlin, Oran Byrne, Grace McGovern, Niamh Farrell, Peter Ward, Jack McShane, Saoirse Trainor, Aoibh Macauley, Ellie Franklin, Daniel Coulter, Kayla Gorman, Conor Taggart, Shea O’Hare, Elsie McClorey, Amira Abouda, Aoife McGivern, Aoife Farrell, Charlie Rooney, Caitlin McGovern, Erin Trainor and Logan Burns.
While the 1st and 2nd placed teams were awarded prizes, all the children were given a prize for working so hard in preparation for this Readathon. Well done to all the boys and girls, to the staff for organising this quiz and to the parents for encouraging the children to read as much as possible.
