Healthy Eating Week March 2017
Carrick Primary School held a Healthy Eating week on the 13th March 2017, the week was filled with plenty of activities provided by Tesco and Cancer Focus.
Staff members from Tesco visited all classrooms and explained that human beings need food and drink to stay alive and grow healthily, that some foods are more nutritious than others, that our bodies need balanced and varied diets and that understanding food labelling can help us choose and prepare healthier options. They also provided many different types of fruit, vegetables and healthy snacks for the children to taste.
Cancer Focus NI provided fun, healthy activities designed to improve knowledge of health and to encourage our pupils to make positive lifestyle choices.
Genevieve, the healthy goat, paid a visit to children in Foundation Stage and showed them an interactive story “Genevieve and the Farmyard Olympics”. Key Stage One pupils took part in Fit Factor learning the importance of healthy eating and exercise and Key Stage Two pupils took part in various Smokebuster activities.
