The Treasurer of Carrick Council David Boyle tells all the boys and girls at assembly about all the things they have been able to achieve in term one from the children’s suggestions and ideas at class Circle Times...
I am David Boyle and I am the Treasurer of Carrick Council, as we come to the end of term one in school I’d like to tell you about all the things we have doing on the council as your class representatives.
From the suggestions you gave through your class Circle Times we were able to achieve some of your ideas when we brought them to the council meetings.
We were able to go and talk to Mrs. Cassidy and Mr. McMahon in the kitchen about your ideas and they told us if were or were not possible. Thankfully most of them were a yes
• We got the girls football team
• We got custard in dinners
• We will have baps with our burgers
• Primary four Councillors were Library Monitors for term one Primary 5 for term 2 and Primary 6 for term 3. They go to the library a few times a week and check if it is tidy.
• We looked at all the school charters and made suggestions for changes
• The school charters and article of the week are all displayed in the main corridor now.
• We asked to get juice at dinners because lots of people suggested that in circle times but sadly we were unsuccessful because we have a healthy eating policy but we did get it for Christmas dinner
• We have had three meetings this term and we have met the friends of Carrick and the board of governors.
• We were involved in the book fair and we also raised £350 selling Hospice Christmas cards.
• We continue to work towards our Rights Respecting award.
We thank you for all your ideas from Circle Times and look forward to term 2.
