PSNI's Safety Assemblies in Carrick PS Burren
Constable Matthew and Constable Ray visited Carrick Primary School on Wednesday 09/10/2024 and spoke to the children about Stranger Danger, Road Safety and Staying Safe at Hallowe'en. Matthew asked the children questions such as, " What is a Stranger?" and "Who are the people that can help us if there are lots of strangers about?" He reminded them that usually people dressed in uniforms such as Policemen, Firemen, Nurses etc are good people to ask for help. Ray asked the children about their journey to school and what makes it a safe journey. He told the children that they must be safe and be seen. He advised them to walk with an adult and to cross the road at safe places like traffic lights or with the lollipop lady.
Finally Matthew spoke to the children about staying safe during the Hallowe'en holiday period. If out 'Trick or Treating' he said that they should always stay with an adult and should never play with or let off fireworks. Sparklers should be used very carefully and disposed of safely and all children should stay well back from bonfires.
The children really enjoyed the assemblies and learned so much about staying safe!
